Praxinoscopes and Lover's eyes

"Action viewer" the Praxinoscope was an old animation device

a strip of pictures were placed around a spinning cylinder

what old world charm

and Lover's eyes (which I believe a more charming term than eye miniature as they were also known) were all the rage during Georgian times, miniature watercolour paintings of the eyes of loved ones worn an jewellery or used as pendants

Some old world customs seem to make much more sense than some of the strange ones we have today

Thea Porter: clothery witchraft

This ^ is the dress that is made from dreams! Originally found a whole post on one of my favourite blogs, I love Cat Party about it, and i can completely see why. Best fabric print ever, it is Thea Porter, you can read more about her here. The design is incredible! nothing about it i don't like, apart from its rarity of course :(

Kate Moss wore a blue Thea Porter dress for her rehearsal dinner, i loved how old school she looked! Google more Thea designs if you're into the wicked vibes these creations exude!

Christmas Wishlist

Ah Santa, you don't exist but by putting this to you instead of someone in general, i not only feel like a kid again, but less materialistic and silly. one of these would be nice!!

A nice little bone shaped ring, the Marc Jacobs ones are perfect, whilst not one for labels, this is my favourite design, i like the silver and wouldn't ever take it off!

Bobo needs a friend for company, and this medical model Mr Bo Jangles (i came up with his name when i was 12) would be a perfect companion

Art Deco jewellery

How about this splendid Heico Bunny lamp?

Or a magic mushroom

Taxidermy!

But not necessarily a Polly Morgan scale piece!

Some nice shoesies, particularly Mary Janes

Paper Blanks journal would be lovely too, to write more silly lists in.

So there we go Santa, no presure!

What do you guys hope for this Christmas, ages away though it be

Adventures of an op shop addict

Deco style clasp bag and a Friends of Couture scarf, both from the best Op Shop in Melbourne, from what i understand Friends of Couture has now merged with Princess Highway and they're all available through Dangerfield

Rabbits, goats, ducks, bridges, the whole thing has a Grimm's fairytale feel to it. in love.

You pretty clasp you!

Ridiculously over the top beautifully coloured tray

Geode bookends! For the never ending house museum and eventual Wunderkammer!

Felt very fortunate and spoilt with this haul, need to give it a rest for a while, the wicked has been kicked out of me for a bit

Destroy them with lasers! (is playing in the background)

Heston Blumenthal's Drink me potion, based on the one from Alice in Wonderland. Viewing this come to life here

National Geographic photography working its wonders. PINK FLAMINGOS haha, see what i did there?

No idea where these doors are, but there was a pink-ish vibe to this post so i felt obligated by the colour gods to post it.

005

Frantisek Kupka was a Czech artist, his love of colour really comes through in his art. The painting above, and the detail below is Mme Kupka in vertical. I love that beautiful little face poking through the colour waterfall.

Wasn't she a pretty lady? ^

More colours! Disks of Newton above. (pics taken from Wikipaintings and Tumblr)

I often wonder how artists work as clothing might translate? I love Lady Miss Kier and her jumpsuit. Harlequin print!

This remains one of the most beautiful dresses I've ever seen. The colours look like Mr Kupka could have had some input? Though it was a Valentino gown from 2003. And its still stuck in my head. so so purdy.....
