The World's fair, Paris 1900

Already to begin with, the poster art is incredible

And this was the entryway (source here )

Above is rare footage, courtesy of YouTube, MetalDrake channel
and below is the WONDERFUL documentary series People's Century, (uploaded by Jack black, no copyright infringement intended)
In the first half of the documentary, there is wonderful footage from the world's fair and people who remembered it talk about it (and its magical moving footpaths) the footage is enchanting! the whole of  People's century is brilliant.

Mœbius and Marc Chagall

Moebius/ Jean Giraud is the talent behind these wonderful works, and a legendary contributor to film, comics and many great books

And here is the wonderfully colourful emotive work of Marc Chagall, If I were a thousandairre I would fresco my ceilings with these and fall asleep beneath their melancholy warmth

Woodford Folk Festival

UPDATE! FOUND the amazingly talented illustrator behind the Woodford art, his name is Gavin Ryan, more here

Hoping to make it to Woodford this year!

Site here for more info/ tickets

The National folky down in Canberra is always good fun, just a wonderful atmosphere filled with a great mix of people

Woodford program and online art always makes me happy, computer so filled with it all

No amount of words or pictures can convey how warm and responsive people are. The local share economies that pop up when you've forgotten sunscreen or even shoes, your camping neighbours are always more than happy to oblige, always a great bunch of people

And look, they have Paper Lanterns! ^_^ (get it? haha, my 17 year old self came up with this blog title!)

So beautiful

Edvard Munch

Probably most famous for The Scream, here are some of his other works.
Above: Kiss by the window

Death at the helm

I love love love his use (perhaps under use) of colour, it adds a dimension of mood to each piece rather than detail, it evokes a mood, a feeling

Death in the sickroom

Madonna

Evening on Karl Johan Street

Woman on the Shore

By the deathbed

Early lithographs, really wonderful use of black and white, simple

Très Riches Heures du Duc de Berry

After reading about this illuminated manuscript many moons ago, through one of the finest works of the writer Tom Hodgkinson (editor of The Idler magazine), following his analysis of medieval life with this manuscript with its inner calendar, I had to find it!

I hope the pictures speak for how amazing it is as a piece in its own right, but also considering it was created sometime between 1412- 1416, it's stunning!

Anatomical Zodiac man (what a great name for a band that would be!)
