A celebration of Cake in film

The point of this post is Cakes IN film. Not well known cakes like Christmas pudding and awesome out of this world birthday cakes, but for that lingering moment on screen when a soon to be famous (in my head anyways, and stomach, preferably) food porn moment lights up the screen

Picnic at Hanging Rock cake

Hagrid's cake to Harry

Marie Antoinette and a room of cake. (Yes I'm aware she never said 'let them eat cake')

But i couldn't do a pointless post without contributing something worth seeing, Heston Blumenthal's exploding chocolate gateau see recipe here
Let me know if I've missed a famous cake moment, since they are better dressed than people sometimes
And not films with Cake in the title, though i did enjoy this :)

Killer outfit combination

Hot Dog hat available here best Fat Friday awareness headgear ever

Melting Sunglasses by Sheefun Chan and Anne-Sofie Back more to see here

Saved this picture off Tumblr, got really depressed that i had no idea where it's from then realised i was sitting in front of the internet and found it here, i love you internet

All these worn together would be an excellent addition to any proper wardrobe, and an excellent conversation started, PLUS, when you ordered a hot dog you could just say "can i grab one of these?" and point to your head!!

All pics with links except last one's original source, got it from Tumblr

Laduree

When i was in Paris i didn't get enough time to stop at Laduree. My inner fat person died of shame, so now food porn shall have to do the trick.

At least there are books? Surely i will be able to bake up a Fat Friday dream? Just look at them here

I love people who scan recipes and upload them online so thank you muchly Ara Jane

Even their tea is poncily and most spectacularly packaged, but i suppose that's part of the idea?

Every blog with a post about Laduree mentions the fact that  in Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette, Laduree made the pastries. So, obligatory information complete.

Only small individual versions of the Marie Antoinette cake are available for purchase if i have internet stalked correctly. It would still be completely worth it! i love you food porn

Well high on my bucket list is a return trip to Europe, and Fat Friday shall hopefully become a fulfilled dream. For now, i shall have to see if i can get to the Sydney store instead, I'm pretty sure somewhere a French person fainted for me suggesting such a thing.

(all pics from Tumblr, Ara Jane loves and Wikipedia)
